“I have been diagnosed with prostate cancer in jail. I have to urinate every 30 minutes” Kamaremba

Human Rights advocates from the Campaign for Human Rights and Development International (CHRDI), including the Chief Executive, Abdul M. Fatoma, visited jailed opposition leader Mohamed Kamaraimba Mansaray. The team’s visit was to look at the health condition of the opposition leader who has been in jail for over one and a half years.
Mansaray on the 17th July 2020, was arrested after a police complaint was filed for an alleged sexual penetration of a 15 year old school girl. He was charged to court four days later. Mansaray has denied all the allegations against him.
On the 7th September 2021, he was granted bail, but he still remains in detention in Freetown on the grounds that ‘he failed to meet his bail conditions’. The visit has been described by the CHRDI team as very useful because it says it offered them the opportunity to form an opinion or make conclusions on the situation. The CHRDI team said, they learnt during their visit, that the opposition politician has serious medical challenges, which needed immediate attention.
Mansaray told CHRDI that he has spent a year and half in detention and has been diagnosed with prostate cancer by two medical doctors. “Because of my medical condition, I have to urinate every 30-40 minutes. If I fail, I will urinate on myself,” he said. Kamaremba added that a year ago, a neurologist recommended to the correctional services that he should have a surgical operation, but that request was also denied.
Kamaremba added that in October 2021, a very senior official at the correctional services told him to raise funds for his medical laboratory test as the facility is unable to provide him with such. He said by December 2021, he raised close to six million Leones from friends and family, but claimed that money was taken away by a senior official on ground he did not know.
Asked about his bail bond, Mr. Mansaray said, he had fulfilled his bail conditions, but he is still in detention on grounds he is not aware of. He added that prison officers always listens to his conversations with visitors which violates his right to privacy.
CHRDI draws attention to the UN Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners, which establishes standards on a range of matters. They include accommodation conditions, adequate food, personal hygiene, clothing and bedding standards, medical services, and disciplinary procedures. “These rules are now complemented by the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. This obliges States to set up preventive monitoring mechanisms to maintain detention standards,” it said. CHRDI expresses disappointed and denounce the service and conditions of the facilities for both security personnel and the inmates and calls for proper improvement of the detention centers.

Open Letter Asking President Julius Maada Bio To Tender His Resignation Letter Or Members Of Parliament Impeach Him From Office
Today the 7th May 2022, I write an identical letter with a profound sense of fear in my heart about Sierra Leone being a rogue state under your watch since you took power in 2018 after a controversial elections result that was given to you by the international community with the help of our rogue institutions and we don’t need a President like you who’s thinking is just Me myself and I only mentality, we also don’t need strong men if you think you are one, we need smart institutions in our nation. In regards to above I/we calling for your resignation forthwith or members of Parliament should file immediate impeachment complaints processing against you under subsection 51 of the 1991 constitution of Sierra Leone for crimes against humanity, incitement, called some citizens terrorists, arrest of mental disabled, man made poverty, massive corruption scales, arrest physically challenged, killings of innocent civilians, execution of unarmed citizens exercising their rights to protests/free speech, killings of unarmed prisoners, forging of receipt, double dipping, and potential money laundering etc.
Sierra Leone is a rogue state and a capture state under your watch since 2018. For example, rogue state is a controversial term applied by some international theorists to states they consider threatening to their own country’s peace. This means meeting certain criteria, such as being ruled by authoritarian regimes under the President of Sierra Leone that severely restrict human rights, President Bio you are sponsoring thugs, sojah team and task force group’s in our nation, and seek to proliferate weapons of mass destruction. However, it is not a democratic scrutiny. We have serious enemies and growing threats in our nation. Unfortunately, we have an administration whose idea of a rogue state is Sierra Leone under the leadership of President Bio.
In the light of the above, we as consumers and as voters can say ‘no’ to rogue economics and demand regulation. Rogue economics is a sort of umbrella under which we find the criminal economy, the illegal economy, but also those thugs, miscreants areas, task force/sojah team areas where there is not proper regulation, where there is no legislation for the economy. President Maada Bio you are a murderer, killer, coupes, human rights abuser, pathological liar, political criminal, and a political thief all together. This is our Sierra Leone under your watch, nothing to write home about since 2018. Our country’s democracy is to arrest, shoot and kill innocent Sierra Leoneans! What kind of democracy is that?
I also write on the 3rd May 2022 to remind you about all the atrocities and about all the crimes against humanity in Sierra Leone, which you failed by not protecting the citizens of that nation, who are unarmed. They are no threat to you and the State. But you went on shooting and killed them for no good reason. For example, the Makeni and the Pademba Road Correctional Centre Prison massacre of unarmed protesters etc. In the history of battles, wars and political instability/unrest, the massacres of citizens that would be the main reason for successful revolutions. It is forbidden to kill any Sierra Leoneans as I am putting it to you Mr President. There are many things worth living for, a few things worth dying for, and nothing worth killing for. I feel the greatest destroyer of our peace today is killing innocent people in Sierra Leone.
However, the epic proportions of all of these egregious human rights violations were not reported in the 2019 Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) report. The massive killings and executions of citizens exercising their rights to protest, in subsection 26(1) of the 1991 constitution, rights to free speech, in subsection 25(1) of the 1991 constitution, said it clearly. They were all met with deadly force perpetrated by the armed forces of Sierra Leone, authorized and approved by the police IG Ambrose M Sovula, signed by the President Julius Maada Bio.
A direct killing of innocent citizens of the Republic of Sierra Leone, ‘Murder’ by you the President yourself you must be held accountable for such barbaric actions you have display in our nation. If peace can only come through killing someone, then we don’t want it. President Bio, your killing makes you feel good. We are not in a police/military state, but a democracy. But unfortunately, under your four years of governance, democracy had been backsliding and backstabbing with impunity. Let the bias/impunity killings/arrest in the North and Northern West Parts of the Republic of Sierra Leone should stop now!
