The media unit of the Sierra Leone police, North East region says they have nine suspected armed robbers in their custody.
Police spokesperson in the region Inspector Abdul Rahman Sankoh said the nine suspected armed robbers were arrested around Masuba and are in detention at the North East regional police headquarters in Makeni. The arrest, Inspector Sankoh Said, was as a result of an intelligence they received from some good citizens, who identified them.
“During the said operation, the police were able to arrest nine people together with some quantity of offensive weapons, like cutlasses, guns, axes and others. Among those in custody are two female and most of them were arrested around Masuba community”, he added.
Inspector Sankoh said, properties worth millions, suspected and identified to be stolen from neighbors around were also retrieved. He said they have started receiving and identifying possible owners of the properties stolen. He pointed at Benghazi area in Masuba, as one of the bases identified for harboring hoodlums and young criminals. The public is assured of a swift and quick investigation and those found wanting would be charge to court.
“As an institution charged with the responsibility and constitutional mandate of protecting lives, we will act upon whatever intelligence from the public, hence the police is aimed at promoting the peace and decorum in the municipality of Makeni and the country”, he said.
